While reading through The Bitter Script Reader’s blog I came across his recommendation to check out Notes From A Hack. Notes From A Hack goes into a detailed story about his writing career and how he got started. This is a must read for any aspiring screenwriter. Check it out:

Rebecca Black’s Friday
So today after watching several videos on youtube I feel like I have to pose this question. Why in the world are we supporting people like Rebecca Black?
Now before all of my hate mail begins to flood in from all of the teeny boppers let me explain. The music industry for a while now has been taking a drastic turn for the worst. Instead of promoting people to actually sing and play instruments we are encouraging kids that anyone can sing by the use of auto-tune. Instead of creating amazing artists like Janis Joplin the industry is using half-assed singers and adjusting their voices to create most of the pop fluff on the radio today.
Now ever since the onslaught of Bieber fever every single wannabe singer has taken to youtube to showcase their “talent”. For those that don’t know Rebecca’s story, she is a 13 year old girl who somehow convinced her parents to shell out $4,000 to ARK music factory to create the music video of the most atrocious song ever I have ever heard. I hate to be mean but someone should have really explained to Rebecca that no auto-tuning could help her voice.  Watch the video to see what I am talking about

I cringe every time I watch that video…
Now because of her so called “success” a ton of other wannabe singers have begged their parents and have created their own terrible music videos. I fear that this is what the music industry has become:

Comments about UTA Joblist
So after posting that I have the newest UTA joblist and I am willing to email it out to you I received an enormous response. While looking through some of the comments I noticed this one posted by Tyler and I felt like I really should address this:
I would love the list as I am looking for a part time gig to go with my bartending job once a week. Thanks
Ok here is my huge problem with this comment. The UTA job list does not offer part time gigs. If you are looking for a part time gig to go along with bartending then I would highly suggest trying to find something else.
The UTA joblist is a list of assistant jobs that are full time and that are available in Hollywood. The list is sent out to hundreds of people so you can imagine that these jobs are rare and highly sought after. I can also assure you that if you do not live in Los Angeles you will never receive a call for one of these positions. Hollywood tends to mostly hire from within but the rare times it does not it will offer interviews to those people that live in that city.
If you are serious about an assistant job in Hollywood I would suggest contacting companies directly rather than trying to land a job through this list. Try websites like media-match and realitystaff.com as well because they usually have some pretty great positions on there as well.
